Childrens Summer Reading Program
June 16th through August 9th
Kids 0 to 16 are invited to sign up and participate in the Children's Summer Reading Program starting on June 16th! Throughout the summer, kids can document what they read to help complete our "Stick-it-Together" Poster challenge, and complete the summer reading bingo sheet for raffle tickets and a chance to earn some neat prizes!

Alyx the Magician
Friday, June 20th @ 1pm - Town of Essex Memorial Hall
Join us for magic and wonder with one of our favorite library guests, Alyx the Magician! Prepare to be amazed as she shares her tricks and talents with us and helps us to round out the first week of our Summer Reading Program!
This is a library program and is free and open to the public. No tickets or sign up required.
Teen Book-Talk Corner
Teens ages 13 through 17 are invited to join us for Book-Talk corner every Tuesday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Come and get reccomendations from other teens or a librarian, talk about what you're reading, or just read among friends! Snacks will be provided.
Teen Zine Competition
Put your creative skills to the test! Teens between the ages 11-17 (6th - 12th grade) are invited to take part in our Teen Zine competition, in collaboration with the Brownell and South Burlington libraries!
Every two weeks, a new prompt will be posted both here on the website and at the main circulation desk of the library. Return a completed prompt to the library and be entered for a chance to win a $20 Phoenix gift card and a chance to be featured in the completed zine with other winners!
Artist's Corner
Wednesdays, 2pm-3pm
Join us each week for Artists Corner! For every week of our summer reading program, we will feature a different art project that kids ages 3 through 16 can come and do!

July 9th: Paint Like Monet in the Garden

Read to Chewie
.
Tuesday, June 24th from 4PM to 5PM
Spend some time reading to Chewie, a three-year-old Golden Retriever and registered therapy dog. Kids and families can sign up for a 15 minute slot and choose a book to read to Chewie and his human, Cindy Turcotte, in our community room. Four time slots are available on each program day, and a waitlist is also available for any cancelations. If you sign up and find you cannot attend, please reach out to library staff to let us know so we can accommodate folks on the waitlist.

Teen Dungeon and Dragons
Last session for the summer on June 21st from 11am-1pm for grades 9-12
Do you yearn for adventure? And free food? The Essex Free Library wants you to join our new program! This could be you and your friends. Whether you're an experienced Dungeons and Dragons player, or this is your first adventure, all are welcome!
Perler Bead Open Studio
Thursday, July 17th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm
Join us in the Community room to make a beautiful perler bead creation! Use the library collection of templates, patterns, and beads and see what you can make!

Pokemon Club

Join us every Thursday from 3pm to 4pm!
Kids 1st through 8th grade are invited to join us to play and talk all things Pokémon!
Bring your cards to trade with friends or a librarian, borrow one of our decks to play the tabletop game, use an iPhone to get the PokéStops in Pokémon Go, bring a Nintendo device to play a Pokémon game alongside friends, or just come to hang out and talk about your favorite Pokémon!
