Looking for Volunteers

Looking for Volunteers!

The Friends of the Essex Free Library are looking for volunteers for their annual Book, Bake, and Plant Sale on Saturday, June 1st. The sale runs from 9-3 and they could use help all day long! Please sign up here for a timeslot to sell baked goods, books, or plants! You can also sign up to make a baked good for the sale. Thank you for your support! Proceeds from the Book, Bake, and Plant Sale go towards the Library's Summer Reading Program.

Who We Are

The Friends of the Essex Free Library is a 501c3 volunteer organization that supports the mission and work of the Library. The Friends are a group of community members who enjoy working together on behalf of the programs, collections, and ambiance of the Essex Free Library.

What We Do

The Friends plan two fundraisers each year: the Cozy Nook Craft Fair in the fall and the Book, Bake, and Plant Sale in the spring. The money goes directly to fund the many events of the Summer Reading Program, the purchase of juvenile titles, summer page honoraria, and other special items or projects to enhance the library.

How You Can Get Involved

We take great pride in running fast, efficient, and fun one hour-long meetings. We will answer questions, discuss ideas for library projects, and meet one another. For more information email us at essexfreefriends@gmail.com , on Facebook at Friends of the Essex Free Library, on Instagram @essexfreefriends, or call the library at 802-879-0313.

We welcome volunteers for the annual Cozy Nook Craft Fair. The sign-up sheets for helping us set up and break down are at the Circulation Desks. We also have sign-up sheets for those willing to bake tempting items for the Bake Sale, which takes place the same day.

Another way to get involved is donating books for our annual Book Sale. Due to limited storage, we are only able to accept books at certain times of the year. Please call the library before donating. We appreciate donations of books, CDs, and DVDs in good condition, with the exception of the following materials: library discards, textbooks, magazines, encyclopedias, dictionaries, multi-volume sets, outdated technology books (over five years old), audio cassettes or VHS tapes, moldy, musty or smoky books.

Don’t forget, the library wouldn’t be the same without Friends like you. Come and be involved!
