Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan services are available to Essex residents with a current Essex Free Library card. Interlibrary loan is available for titles that are not owned by Essex Free Library. In addition, Essex patrons have access to over twenty other libraries in Chittenden County and beyond using their HomeCards.

You can request up to three items through interlibrary loan at a time. You can request books, audiobooks, and DVD’s. We are unable to borrow brand new items; the book/ item must have been published at least 6 months ago for us to be able to borrow it through interlibrary loan.

To request items through interlibrary loan please call or email us. Loans from other libraries typically take 1-2 weeks to receive but can take 2-4 weeks for difficult to find books.
